CRC Housing Project – Uganda 2026

Open to Families, Community Organisations & Housing Providers

About This Call

The CRC Housing Project is inviting families and organisations across Uganda to participate in a structured international programme that supports access to safe, decent and affordable housing for people living in extreme poverty.

This is a data-driven programme — not a handout. Every participating family is assessed, registered and given a unique code. Housing support is matched to verified needs and delivered through vetted providers.

Who Is This Call For?

GROUP A: Families

Families living in extreme poverty who lack decent, safe housing.

  • Must be resident in Uganda and willing to go through the full census process.
  • Must provide valid National ID (NIN) for all adult members.
  • Must consent to data collection and programme participation.

GROUP B: Housing Providers

Builders, contractors, material suppliers and landlords who can supply verified housing.

  • Must be registered businesses or individuals with proven track record.
  • Must agree to pricing standards, quality standards and traceability requirements.
  • Must be willing to be classified (large, medium or small provider).

What Does the Programme Offer?

For Eligible Families:

  • A structured assessment of your housing needs and situation.
  • A unique family code that gives you official status in the programme.
  • Matching with verified housing providers (builders, landlords, suppliers).
  • Support with legal documents, land verification and contracts.
  • Access to financing options through the COOISBANK Cooperative.

For Housing Providers:

  • Registration on the National Provider Registry — the verified list used by the programme.
  • Access to a pipeline of assessed, eligible families.
  • Clear contract templates and pricing guidelines.
  • Timely, traceable payments through the COOISBANK financial system.

Selection & Registration

Families are selected through a structured socioeconomic and psychosocial assessment. Priority is given to:

  • Families currently living in informal settlements, slums or temporary shelters.
  • Female-headed households.
  • Families with children under 18 or elderly members.
  • Families with members living with disabilities.
  • Families with no land ownership and no formal tenancy.

IMPORTANT: Being assessed does NOT guarantee housing support. Selection is based on need, verified data and available programme capacity. The process is fair, transparent and non-discriminatory.

The 5-Step Registration Process

  1. Give your informed consent – you must agree to data collection before anything starts.
  2. Your identity is verified – National ID and documents are checked.
  3. You gather and submit your documents – ID, marriage certificate, land documents, etc.
  4. You complete the programme registration form – household details, income, housing situation.
  5. Your digital folder is assembled and you receive your unique family code.

How To Apply

For Families:

  1. Contact our Uganda office or a registered field officer in your area.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is the CRC Housing Project?

A: It is an international programme that helps families living in extreme poverty to access safe, decent and affordable housing. It was developed by United Communities (CRC) and is now being brought to Uganda as part of a global expansion.

Q: Is this a government programme?

A: No. It is an international humanitarian initiative, not a Uganda government programme. However, it works within Uganda's laws and regulations and cooperates with local authorities where necessary.

Q: Does the programme give out free houses?

A: No. The programme does not simply hand out houses. It assesses your situation, registers you in the system, helps you access providers and financing, and supports the process. Families may access housing through building, renting or purchasing with programme support.

Q: Who runs the financial part of the programme?

A: Payments and financing are handled by the COOISBANK Cooperative — an international cooperative financial institution linked to the CRC programme. All transactions are fully traceable.

Q: Do families pay anything to participate?

A: No fees are charged to families for registration or participation. If anyone asks you to pay to join the programme, report it to us immediately.
